ATTENTATFEST x TIFF at the legendary Blå Rock Café!

Umeå in Northern Sweden was in the 1990s considered perhaps the global capital of the hardcore punk movement, rooted in "straight edge" and veganism, with musical flagships like Refused and Abhinanda.

Director Johannes Persson (also known as the frontman of the metal band Cult of Luna) grew up in this environment and will visit Tromsø during TIFF to present his short film Attentat (The Raid), a co-production with the Tromsø-based company IGH. The film is based on the true story of a group of youths who turned words into action by attacking one of the city’s meat producers in 1994.

TIFF attended ATTENTATFEST at the Umeå Film Festival last year, where several of the most legendary Umeå hardcore bands took the stage. Bringing this concept to TIFF felt 100% natural. In collaboration with IGH, Arctic Film Norway, and Lampray, TIFF presents ATTENTATFEST at the legendary Blå Rock Café.

Umeå hardcore's flagship ABHINANDA (who also have music featured in Attentat) will perform an exclusive concert, and Tromsø's hardcore legends DIE X LEGEND will make a very special return to the stage for the first time in over five years—with a unique twist in their lineup.

There will also be a special screening of Attentat followed by a conversation with director Johannes Persson and music journalist Helge Skog, just before the concerts.
